Posted by Ben Cook as Barack Obama
Politics is a topic that can really get people wound up. As you’ve probably gathered from our occasional political cartoons, we like to lighten the mood every now and then and today is one of those days.
So, several hours of work and thousands of pieces later… I’d like to present the “leg-O-bama”
What you’re looking at is a 30 inch by 30 inch, 4 color portrait of Barack Obama… using Lego bricks!
When I started the project for some reason I didn’t think 30″x30″ would be that big but once I started putting it together I realized I had underestimated it a bit. Here’s a shot of me holding the finished project.
So there you have it! The plan was originally to do one of each candidate and their running mates but after seeing this one, I’m not sure my wife is going to want 4 big portraits and tens of thousands of Lego pieces cluttering up the house.
Note: These images are protected by copyright and cannot be used without permission. So please ask first and offer to include copyright information and link both the image and the copyright info back to this site. I will be fairly friendly about granting permission but if I find you’ve used one of my images without asking, I’ll request that you remove it. Simply, ask first or don’t do it.

2Is there something ironic about using white lego tiles for Obama’s face?

6Wow, that is incredible!!!!! You should offer it up to the campaign or something! Then you’d be free to do Joe Biden’s likeness and your wife wouldn’t get mad at all the portraits hanging around the house:)

8Very nice…looking forward to the Palin one.
If your wife doesn’t want them hanging around, you should sell them. Wives seem to like that money stuff.

20You might as well finish the winning ticket, finish with Joe Biden.
After all, after Nov 5, Palin will go back to her corruption in Alaska, and McCain will be working at a Home Depot somewhere cutting keys for people.

25Place the picture on the wall, put flowers all around the picture, and place lighted candles under it. There it is! Your alter to the great messiah Obama! Come to give hope to the world! Imagine if you could of spent your time more wisely like, uh, getting a job!

27I saw one done with marshmallow peeps at Easter. Obama looks better in b&w than pink and blue. The resolution was pretty coarse too.
Well done!

29That’s great. I’ve been wanting to do a lego project like this for years. Where did you acquire all the lego pieces? I’ve looked online and I’ve never found a great source for basic lego pieces.

Think of it like that Ebony and Ivory thing by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder. “Side by side on my piano keyboard.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sssqBjaTzOU

38nice work.
why on earth do the republican uber-trolls always assume creative people don’t have jobs! how on earth can we afford all those “lattes” they accuse us of living on? not to mention thousands of legos.
they’re just mad that you’re passionate about something besides the cause du jour of their professional resentment brigade i guess.

……It’s incredibly sad that some people seem to think creating art is wasting time or something one does out of boredom.
Kudos to the lego artist!

50This is a cry for help. You seriously need to have kids or something to use up your obvious overabundance of free time. Maybe next you could write a sonnet in the style of Joe Biden.
